Copenhagen born Jensen had an eye for industrial design from an early age. After leaving school with a string of qualifications, Jacob worked from 1952 to 1958 at the world famous Siguard Bernadotte And Acton Bjorn Design Studio, becoming its leader in 1954. His creations have gained him well over 100 national and international awards which has also lead to him being included in ‘Great Danes’, a list compiled by the Danish Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the 500 best known Danish citizens. (Which, if you think about it, is a lot more than Belgium has to offer…)

Oh, the phones. The phones, the phones, the phones. Definitely the phones. They’re super contemporary, yet classy enough to work in a variety of settings. But that’s not all. How about a designer doorbell and the hottest smoke detector on the market?

If your home features flocked wallpaper, wall-to-wall, ‘oriental effect’ carpet, doilies on the back on the sofa and a grandfather clock in the entrance hall, then maybe Jacob Jensen’s designs are not for you. And even if you have taste, the lightweight (some might say plastic) feel isn’t everyone’s glass of Heineken. But the purity of design is second to none and the quality of the electrical components is top notch, which, it has to be said, is what you should be prepared to pay for.
