Newgate’s story is a real case of tiny acorns and big oaks. In 1991, aged 21 and 18, Jim Read and Chloe Macdonald founded Newgate from a room in their flat. Not long afterwards, at their very first trade fair, they took an order from Harrods. In 1995 they conquered America, and while Britain, Europe and the Far East sales became even stronger. The years passed and now they are married with three kids, work from a spacious factory and Jim heads up a design team that works on all their designs, which are made in the Far East, as well as producing catalogue, web and marketing material all entirely in house.
