Solicut stands for “Soligen Cutlery”, Solingen being the town in West Germany known as the "City of blades" – long since renowned for the manufacturing of fine swords, knives, scissors. Solicut itself was founded as a small knife sharpening business in 1948.

Well, at roughly £45 for a paring knife, they are quite expensive compared to Wustof or Henckels, but these babies are with you for the long haul.
