Every bit the cutting edge designers that they are, duo Dan Black and Martin Blum appropriately reside in one of London’s most iconic buildings, the OXO tower. Facing the Thames and flanked by the London Eye and St Pauls Cathedral, it would be hard to imagine anywhere more inspirational. So how have they been influenced by such an evocative part of London? Which part of the culture-rich South Bank moved them to create their innovative designs?

The fact that their door wouldn’t stay open. “It was hot in here, so with a jigsaw we cut out a little man shape out of wood who looked like he was holding the door open”. And so, one of Black + Blum’s bestsellers, ‘James’ the doorstop, was born.
